Liverpool are one of many English clubs who hold an interest in Hoffenheim forward Maximilian Beier, according to a report.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Hannover in the German second tier were he scored seven goals in 33 appearances, and he has since made a bright start to the current campaign back at Hoffenheim.

Indeed, Beier has contributed with six goals and four assists in 13 Bundesliga matches this term, helping Hoffenheim rise to sixth in the table and just six points behind the Champions League qualification spots.

Beier's performances have not gone unnoticed, as Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that 'many top clubs from England' have enquired about the forward's availability and they have been informed about his contractual details.

Plettenberg states that Liverpool are one of those clubs interested in the youngster, who "will leave" Hoffenheim in the summer of 2024.

Beier is under contract at Hoffenheim until June 2027 and possesses a modest release clause of €30m (£25.7m).

The Brandeburg-born forward is also believed to be on the radar of Germany national team boss Julian Nagelsmann and the youngster is targeting a call-up to the senior squad for Euro 2024.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side are currently the second-highest scorers in the Premier League (36 goals) behind Manchester City (38 goals), while four Reds players have scored more than five goals in all competitions so far this season.

Indeed, Mohamed Salah unsurprisingly tops Liverpool's scoring charts for 2023-24 with 14 goals, while Diogo Jota (eight), Darwin Nunez (seven) and Cody Gakpo (six) are next on the list.

Luis Diaz, Harvey Elliott and Ben Doak are other attacking options at Klopp's disposal, but it is understood that Liverpool are looking to bolster their frontline further in the New Year.

The Merseysiders have also been tipped to recruit a new defender following the ACL injury sustained by Joel Matip, but Klopp has played down speculation that they will delve into the January market for a replacement.

Liverpool currently sit top of the Premier League table and are also at the summit of their Europa League group, and they will travel to Belgian to face Union SG in their final group game in the latter competition on Thursday.
