Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez in January, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing forward Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona in January.

According to The Mirror, the Premier League club have asked the Spanish giants to let them know if they plan to sell the Chile international.

Barca coach Tito Vilanova does not want the 23-year-old to leave next month and considers him an important part of his team.

However, it has been reported that Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on Sanchez and wants to add him to his squad next month.

Rodgers initially wanted to sign the former Udinese forward on loan for the remainder of the season and then make the move permanent, but is now willing to pay a transfer fee and sign him outright.

Sanchez joined Barcelona from Udinese in 2011.
