Liverpool are reportedly confident of signing Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum prior to their pre-season tour of the United States.
The 25-year-old has emerged as a rumoured target for the Reds, having previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
It is claimed by The Telegraph that Jurgen Klopp is keen to thrash out a deal in the coming days, with Newcastle holding out for £27m but Liverpool only willing to budge as far as the £20m mark.
Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski is understood to be at the top of the Merseyside outfit's summer wishlist but, with a move yet to go through, Klopp is now ready to turn his attention elsewhere.
Recent reports suggest that no bid has been made by Tottenham or Everton for Wijnaldum, who joined the Magpies from PSV Eindhoven last summer in a £14.5m transfer.
