Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that the club are no closer to tying Steven Gerrard down to a new contract.
The 34-year-old, who celebrated the 16th anniversary of his Liverpool debut in his side's 1-0 victory over Stoke City on Saturday, has just seven months left to run on his current deal worth £140,000-a-week.
However, the Daily Mail claims that Liverpool's owners are reluctant to match that salary and Rodgers has said that he is unaware of any deal being close to completion.
"There's no update I am aware of. I think the club is talking with Steven's representatives," he told reporters.
Gerrard was rested for the win over Stoke, although he did appear as a substitute 15 minutes from time.
