Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey wishes to remain with Blackpool until the end of the season.

Liverpool youngster Jonjo Shelvey has revealed that he is keen to extend his loan spell with Championship club Blackpool until the end of the current season.

The midfielder joined the Seasiders in September on an initial three-month temporary deal and has gone on to net six goals.

Shelvey has said that he is "really enjoying" his time and Bloomfield Road and is happy to prolong his stay.

"Blackpool are a good team with good players and I have asked Liverpool if I can stay here for the season," said the 19-year-old. "It is not that far from home and I think we could achieve something.

"I am really enjoying it here.

"Obviously I want to break into the Liverpool side, but I think playing at a good club gives me the best chance of doing that."

Shelvey signed for Liverpool in 2010 from Charlton Athletic.
