Kolo Toure: 'Brendan Rodgers will only look for the best in transfer window'

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure insists that manager Brendan Rodgers will try to sign top quality players in this summer's transfer window.

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has insisted that manager Brendan Rodgers will only be looking for top quality players in this summer's transfer window.

The Merseyside outfit missed out on winning their first league title in 24 years by two points after Manchester City secured a 2-0 win over West Ham United to seal the trophy on Sunday.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker, while reports have claimed that the club have lodged a £20m bid for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana.

"The manager will be wanting to build in the summer and it is all about getting the best team around you that you can," the Daily Mail quotes Toure as saying. "We don't lack the motivation at all to win the league and the manager will try to get the best. He knows what he is looking for."

Rodgers was crowned Manager of the Year by the League Managers' Association on Sunday night after guiding the Reds from seventh to second in one season.
