Lyon inflicted another defeat on Monaco boss Thierry Henry.

Lyon moved up to third in Ligue 1 after a comfortable 3-0 win against struggling Monaco.

Houssem Aouar and Nabil Fekir struck in the first half for the hosts before Monaco's Aleksandr Golovin was sent off a minute after the restart.

Ferland Mendy added a third but the awful visitors got off lightly conceding just three.

Thierry Henry's side remain second bottom, three points from safety.

The former France striker has won just two of his 12 games since taking over in October and Monaco fell behind after just six minutes.

Lyon took the lead when Diego Benaglio's parried Bertrand Traore's cross into the path of Aouar and he buried from close range.

Benaglio's smart save denied Fekir at his near post but the forward did double Lyon's lead after 34 minutes.

Kenny Tete was allowed to bustle his way to the byline and tee up Fekir who found the bottom corner.

Tempers flared seconds after the break when Golovin was sent off for a crude challenge on Fekir, although VAR was needed to reach a final decision.

Jason Denayer and Fekir had chances to increase Lyon's lead before Mendy did make it 3-0 after 59 minutes.

Lazy Monaco defending allowed the left-back to reach Tete's deep cross and his downward header from 12 yards beat Benaglio.

Memphis Depay fired inches wide after 67 minutes as Lyon continued to dominate but could not find another goal.
