Francesco Totti has claimed that Manchester City's tweet claiming that he has never scored on English soil gave him the luck to find the back of the net for Roma last night.
The 38-year-old found the equaliser for the Italians in Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with City in their Champions League group match at the Etihad Stadium.
Prior to the game, City's official Twitter page tweeted Roma saying: "We're looking forward to hosting you @OfficialASRoma, and a legendary player such as Totti. He's never scored in England, has he?"
Totti told Gazzetta dello Sport: "City's tweet? It really brought me luck.
"It was a beautiful goal and a good performance. I really wanted to score as soon as possible as I had not found the back of the net this season."
Totti displaced Ryan Giggs to become the oldest player to score in Champions League history.
