Manchester City winger Leroy Sane's record vs. West Ham United

Ahead of Manchester City's Premier League meeting with West Ham United, Sports Mole looks at Leroy Sane's record in this fixture.

After being named among the subs for Manchester City's EFL Cup final clash with Chelsea at the weekend, Leroy Sane will be looking to send out a message if selected against West Ham United on Wednesday.

The German winger missed a penalty at Wembley Stadium after being brought on as a late substitute in normal time, but his side still went on to win 4-3 on pens following a goalless draw after extra time.

Sane is expected to return to City's forward line against West Ham in midweek, and that could spell bad news for the Hammers judging by his previous record in this fixture.

Here, Sports Mole looks at Sane's return against United in a little more depth.

Sane scored two of Man City's four goals in the reverse meeting three months ago, including a fine finish in added time when leaving Fabian Balbuena on the floor with his first touch.

The 23-year-old also set up Raheem Sterling's goal at the London Stadium to make it four goal involvements in four games against West Ham.

Sane's other strike came in the 4-1 win in the English capital last season - a deflected shot off the head of Patrice Evra - as City against cruised to all three points.

Across those four previous encounters with West Ham, the ex-Schalke 04 ace has only ever been on the winning side - a good omen for the champions ahead of Wednesday's clash.
