James Milner sidelined for Manchester City

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini reveals that midfielder James Milner will miss Saturday's fixture against Newcastle United with a knee problem.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that midfielder James Milner has been absent from training all week with a knee injury.

Milner has emerged as one of City's most important players in recent weeks with goals against Hull City and Stoke City, but Pellegrini has announced that the England international will be missing when his team face Newcastle United.

The 61-year-old told reporters: "It's not very, very serious but he couldn't work all week. All of the other players are fit."

The injury to Milner leaves him as a doubt for City's Champions League first leg with Barcelona on Tuesday night.
