Dedryck Boyata is ready to grasp his second chance at Manchester City after performing well in pre-season.

Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata is ready to take his second chance at the club.

After two failed loan spells last season, the 22-year-old seemed to be on his way out of City this summer.

He has featured heavily in pre-season, though, and revealed that manager Manuel Pellegrini has promised him a chance this season.

"I had several discussions with the coach and this year, from what he tells me, he believes in me a lot," Boyata told the Manchester Evening News.

"From what I know, I will get my chance this year and I intend to work extra hard to grasp is, when I get the opportunities.

"Last year it was difficult, especially mentally. I think I was patient all year and now it's another season."

Manchester City begin their Premier League campaign against Newcastle United on August 19.
