Fernandinho: 'Move to Manchester City boosted Brazil hopes'

Fernandinho believes that his move to Manchester City has boosted his chances of playing at the World Cup.

Fernandinho has claimed that his move to Manchester City helped him earn a recall to the Brazil squad ahead of the World Cup.

The midfielder was named in the squad to face South Africa in a friendly next month after a period of two years without making an appearance on the international stage.

"It is a dream to play in the World Cup in my country – maybe the most important thing in my career," Fernandinho told reporters.

"I knew that if I played well for Manchester City, I had a chance to get back in the national team.

"Also a few months of good performances by me and my team-mates they have paid attention in Brazil."

Fernandinho is currently on the sidelines with a muscle injury.
