Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany could reportedly be on the sidelines until October due to a setback in his recovery from a groin injury.
The Belgium international was initially expected to be out of action until this month following the blow he suffered during City's 4-0 win over Newcastle United on August 19.
It is understood that Kompany is taking longer to recover from the problem, and is in danger of missing his side's derby against Manchester United at the Etihad stadium on September 22, according to The Guardian.
If Kompany's layoff is extended, the defender could return to the team against Everton on October 5.
