Manchester City join race to sign Danny Ings?

Manchester City reportedly join the race to sign Danny Ings when the Burnley striker becomes a free agent in the summer.

Manchester City have reportedly joined the clubs interested in signing Burnley striker Danny Ings this summer.

Ings was repeatedly linked with a move away from Turf Moor during the transfer window, but the Clarets resisted the temptation to cash in on the 22-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Liverpool are reported to be leading the race to sign Ings, while Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay hinted on Tuesday that the La Liga club were planning to make him an offer.

However, the Manchester Evening News claims that the Premier League champions see Ings as an ideal candidate to boost the number of homegrown players in the squad.

Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic have both struggled to find top form this season, and the England Under-21 international could replace either of the forwards if City consider making them available in the summer.
