Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has emerged as a late January transfer target for Premier League leaders Manchester City, according to a report.
The Citizens have kept their business until late in the window, having brought in Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday and reportedly opened talks over a move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.
Pep Guardiola is now supposedly targeting a deadline-day deal to land Mahrez, who has previously been open about his desire to leave Leicester.
City chief Guardiola has upped his search for a new attacking player following the injury loss of Leroy Sane, with the German winger ruled out of key cup matches against Arsenal and Basel over the next month.
The Sun suggests that Mahrez is the player quadruple-chasing City will attempt to attract to the Etihad Stadium, despite boss Claude Puel recently claiming that the Algerian is worth a nine-figure sum.
Around £60m will be offered, it is claimed, which would surpass the £57m handed over to purchase Laporte from Athletic.
