Schalke 04 have reportedly made the breakthrough in their attempts to sign Manchester City youngster Rabbi Matondo.
The 18-year-old is highly regarded by City boss Pep Guardiola, but the academy player is yet to make his first-team debut despite having already featured for Wales.
Schalke have held an interest in Matondo for some time, and according to Sky Sports News, the German side have been successful with a bid of £11m.
The report suggests that City turned down Schalke's initial offer of £8.6m, but it now appears that a deal will be finalised before the end of January.
Matondo has netted three goals from six outings for City's Under-23 side since joining from Cardiff City in 2016.
