Steven Gerrard insists that the England team are "united", despite suggestions that there is animosity within the squad.

Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard is adamant that there are no "divides" within the national squad, despite the recent racism controversy involving John Terry.

Previous reports suggested that Rio Ferdinand's snub from the Three Lions squad was due to problems between the centre-back and Chelsea skipper Terry, who will stand trial for allegedly racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender and Ferdinand's brother Anton.

"It's false," said Gerrard in a press conference. "We're united, we're together, we're all after the same thing and that's to win. There's no divides and we'll make sure there's no divides because it's something that we don't need."

The midfielder will start for England against Norway tomorrow alongside Liverpool teammate Andy Carroll, goalkeeper Robert Green and Scott Parker.
