David de Gea delighted with FA Cup triumph

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea believes that his side deserve their FA Cup triumph over Crystal Palace in the final at Wembley.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has said that his side deserved their victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final this evening.

Juan Mata forced extra time for the Red Devils by cancelling out Jason Puncheon's opener at Wembley, before Jesse Lingard lashed in a memorable volley to win United's first FA Cup since 2004.

De Gea made a number of saves in extra time to keep Palace at bay, and the Spaniard urged everyone associated with the club to enjoy the success.

"It was a great game, great goal, I think we deserved to win the final, now we have to enjoy," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"It's a long time we don't win the trophy, we fight for it, we have it. It's really a good moment for us, for the fans, for everyone."

United have now won the FA Cup 12 times, equalling Arsenal as the most successful club in the competition's history.
