Manchester United centre-back Leny Yoro is allegedly now walking without crutches, as the Frenchman steps up his recovery from a fractured metatarsal.

Manchester United centre-back Leny Yoro is reportedly now walking without crutches, with the Frenchman taking a huge step in his recovery process.

Yoro arrived at Man United from Lille in the middle of July, and the 18-year-old made his debut for the 20-time English champions as a starter against Rangers in a pre-season friendly.

However, in his second appearance for the club against Arsenal, Yoro suffered a fractured metatarsal.

The teenager underwent an operation to repair the damage, and it was said at the time that he should be back on the field at some stage in November.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the defender has taken an important step in his recovery process, as he is walking without crutches; Yoro is now allegedly working with Man United medical staff at Carrington, with his recovery going as planned.

When will Yoro return to action?

Much will depend on how Yoro's recovery progresses in the coming weeks, as he will need to hit certain targets before being cleared to move on to the next stage of the process.

Despite Yoro taking a huge step froward, there are no suggestions that he could be back before November, but the youngster may return towards the start of the month rather than the middle or end.

Man United will face Chelsea in the Premier League at the start of the month, before tackling PAOK in the Champions League ahead of league matches with Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

The home game against Leicester on November 9 could be a possibility for Yoro, but he might be held back until after the international break, with the Red Devils facing a trip to Ipswich.

Which players are also currently injured for Man United?

Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof, Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are also currently on the sidelines for the 20-time English champions in the early stages of this season.

Both Hojlund and Shaw could return for Man United's trip to Southampton on September 14, while there is also a chance that Lindelof may be in the squad, with the centre-back bidding to overcome the toe problem which has sidelined him early in the campaign.

Malacia has not played since the 2022-23 season due to a serious knee injury, and it remains to be seen when the Netherlands international will be able to return.

Mount, meanwhile, picked up a hamstring issue during the recent Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, and he is not expected back until the early stages of October.

As well as potential returns for Shaw and Hojlund, Man United are set to have new signing Manuel Ugarte available for selection against Southampton at St Mary's.
