How Manchester United could line up against Colchester United

Ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup tie between Manchester United and Colchester United, Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side could line up at Old Trafford.

Manchester United play host to Colchester United in the EFL Cup quarter-finals looking to extend their recent unbeaten run in all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has witnessed his side go five matches without defeat - a run which includes victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

However, the Norwegian will almost certainly make sweeping changes to his first XI for the game with the League Two outfit, who have already got the better of Crystal Palace and Spurs on their way to the last eight.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how United may line up for the encounter at Old Trafford.

With the match coming just over 72 hours after the 1-1 draw with Everton in the Premier League, Solskjaer could change his entire team.

Fresh off the back of another goal in the top flight, Mason Greenwood will start in the final third, with Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata and Tahith Chong likely providing the support.

James Garner should be given another opportunity in the senior ranks, potentially alongside Nemanja Matic who has recently returned from two months on the sidelines.

Brandon Williams is a likely starter at left-back, although fellow youngster Diogo Dalot may only be selected among the replacements should he pass a fitness test on a groin injury.

Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones may form a partnership in the middle of the backline, while goalkeeper Sergio Romero is expected to feature between the sticks.

While Marcos Rojo and Paul Pogba are both closing in on a return to the squad, it would come as a surprise if either player features on Wednesday night.
