Michael Carrick has admitted that the Manchester United squad are suffering from "mixed emotions".
United took the field against Swansea City this afternoon having seen rivals Manchester City take a step closer to claiming the Premier League title with a 2-0 win away at Newcastle United.
Despite beating the Swans 2-0, Carrick has conceded that the Red Devils were keen to add to their goal tally.
"It is mixed emotions," the midfielder told Sky Sports News. "We were watching the Newcastle game and hoping for something to happen. It didn't.
"We were obviously looking to score a few more but it wasn't to be. We head into next week and all we can do is hope."
United travel to Sunderland next Sunday.
