New Manchester United signing Daniel James says that he is not worried about the prospect of receiving nasty challenges from Premier League opponents next season.

Manchester United winger Daniel James has insisted that he is not worried about the prospect of receiving nasty challenges from Premier League defenders next season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the rapid winger his first signing as United manager back in June for a fee of £15m plus £3m in add-ons.

James, who has impressed during pre-season, was on the receiving end of a crunching tackle followed by a stamp from Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko on Thursday.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, the 21-year-old stressed that he was used to this kind of treatment.

"If you watch any of my games from last season, I think it's going to happen to me every game," he said. "I got some rough treatment against Spurs, but it's literally every game. I'm used to it. It's just about getting back up and getting on with it.

"It's always going to be part of my game. Being a winger, I'm always going to get fouled, but it's just about how you get on with it. I don't let it get in my head and just keep going.

"The Sissoko one, I've nipped in just before and he's fouled me at the edge of the box in a good position. Part of my game is about winning those fouls and getting in good positions."

Solskjaer plans to be patient with phasing in the 21-year-old, who played on both wings during United's pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.

United are still working on a deal to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City before the window shuts on August 8, with the latter demanding a fee of around £90m.
