Leicester City midfielder James Maddison describes Harry Maguire as a "perfect example" for players following his world-record £80m move to Manchester United.

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has heaped praise on former teammate Harry Maguire, describing the centre-back as the "perfect example" for players to follow.

Maguire became the world's most expensive defender when he swapped Leicester for Manchester United earlier this summer, with his £80m fee surpassing the £75m sum Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk.

Speculation over the England international's future raged for much of the transfer window, but Maddison insists that his commitment to Leicester never wavered during that time.

"The way he conducted himself over the summer was fantastic and it's the perfect example for anyone going through that situation," Maddison told Sky Sports News.

"He came into training every day, trained as well as he could, was excellent in pre-season games and his focus was on Leicester.

"When it came to the time to sign for Manchester United then so be it, but he conducted himself brilliantly."

Maguire has made a confident start to life at Old Trafford, being named man of the match on his debut as the Red Devils kept a rare home clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Chelsea last weekend.
