Michael Owen believes that he could make a return to the Manchester United side before the close of the season, despite a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The former England international has not played for the reigning English champions since being struck with a thigh injury in November.
"I can't imagine myself getting back and starting in the 11," Owen told MUTV.
"My mindset has got to be get myself ready mentally, physically and everything else because I might be needed for 10 or 20 minutes at a late stage of the season. Who knows? It could be the last game of the season at Sunderland."
United are currently three points clear of local rivals Manchester City at the top of the table.
