Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick says that Cristiano Ronaldo should be scoring more goals for the club.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has said that Cristiano Ronaldo should be scoring more goals for the club this season.

The Portugal international has failed to register in his last five appearances for the Red Devils, having drawn another blank in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's league clash with Southampton, Rangnick said that Ronaldo "should score more goals" but has insisted that the other forwards at the club should also be contributing.

"It's not only about Cristiano Ronaldo. He should score more goals, it's obvious, I think we are creating enough chances and enough opportunities in the last couple of games but we just didn't score enough goals, but this is not only an issue with Cristiano, it's an issue with the other players, especially the offensive players. We don't score enough goals," Rangnick told reporters.

"If you bear in mind how many chances we create, and this is also something that needs to get better in the next couple of weeks. At Burnley, in 70 of those 90 minutes, it was very, very, very close to the game plan we spoke before the game and now it's about rewarding ourselves and also getting the results we should deserve."

Ronaldo has registered 14 goals in 25 appearances for Man United since returning to the club from Juventus during the summer transfer window.

The 37-year-old has not netted in the Premier League since the end of December, though, and started on the bench against Burnley on Tuesday before featuring for the final 22 minutes of the 1-1 draw.
