Louis van Gaal praises Manchester United's team spirit

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal praises his side's team spirit after they net a late winner to beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has praised the "amazing" spirit of his side after they secured a late 2-1 victory away at Watford.

Moments after equalising for the Hornets, Troy Deeney put through his own net to give United the three points, and Van Gaal has revealed that he was impressed with his team's response after losing a lead that they had held for 76 minutes.

The Dutchman is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "It was a short time to play after the penalty but you have seen also the spirit of my team. It was amazing because even after the penalty we gave another injection into the game. In five minutes we had possibilities and scored a goal, that was the consequence of the spirit.

"I am very happy for Bastian Schweinsteiger. He needed a goal, he got it and our friend Memphis Depay also scored a beautiful goal. I am a happy coach."

The result moved United to the top of the Premier League standings ahead of the remainder of Saturday afternoon's fixtures.
