Louis van Gaal has reiterated that change won't come around within one month following Manchester United's poor start to the season.
The Red Devils have recorded one defeat and one draw in the Premier League so far this season and were dumped out of the Capital One Cup in their first match of the tournament.
Van Gaal oversaw his side get thrashed 4-0 by MK Dons in the second round on Tuesday night.
"We have to look at the future and we're doing that now with Manchester United by restoring and rebuilding a new team and that costs time," Van Gaal told reporters.
"I'm sorry to say that for the fans because they are amazing. We lost 4-0 at MK Dons and they were singing and supporting the players. It's fantastic that we have such fans and I hope we shall fulfil their expectations, but it's not done in one month."
Meanwhile, new signing Angel di Maria has been given the number seven shirt for the new season.
