Manchester United have won just one of their last eight Premier League away games against teams from London, losing four of their last five.

Manchester United will be bidding to improve on a recent poor record in the English capital when they head to West London on Saturday evening to tackle Thomas Frank's Brentford outfit.

The Red Devils entered the international break off the back of a 4-3 success over Liverpool in the FA Cup, which saw them book their spot in the semi-finals of the competition.

Erik ten Hag's side also beat Everton 2-0 in their last league match on March 9, and they sit sixth in the Premier League table, six points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and nine from Aston Villa, who have played a game more.

Man United now have back-to-back matches in London, facing Brentford on Saturday before heading back down from Manchester next Thursday to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Red Devils have been victorious in just one of their last eight Premier League away matches against teams from London, suffering five defeats in the process.

Man United have been beaten on four of their last five visits to the capital in England's top flight, including three losses from four trips in 2023-24.

Ten Hag's side lost 2-0 at West Ham United on December 23, 3-1 at Arsenal on September 3 and 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on August 19.

Man United will also not have fond memories of their last trip to Brentford, having suffered a 4-0 defeat in the corresponding match during the 2022-23 campaign.

That said, the Red Devils have been victorious in eight of their last 10 matches against Brentford, including a 2-1 success at Old Trafford in the league earlier this season.

Ten Hag confident Man United will benefit from international break

Ten Hag said that his side had "a wonderful break" and insisted that his side "will be ready" for the clash with Brentford despite the quick turnaround from the international break.

"It was a wonderful break. It is always good to go with a win into an international break, definitely with such a win. Players go on international duties, are in other teams, playing styles, systems, now they return and we have to get back where we were," he told reporters during his press conference on Friday.

"Get them back in our way of play, get them back in our team. Yesterday we started this process, it's a short slot but we will be ready tomorrow."

Man United could be boosted by the return of Lisandro Martinez in West London, with the Argentina international expected to be in the squad after recovering from a knee injury.

Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Jonny Evans and Altay Bayindir could also be back in the squad, but Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial are still injured, while Amad Diallo will miss out through suspension, having been sent off after scoring the winner against Liverpool last time out.
