Arsenal have reportedly made contact with the brother of Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams ahead of a potential January switch.

The 22-year-old is seemingly set for a move away from the Spanish club in 2025, although the player's wage demands are said to be an issue for the Gunners.

Williams burst onto the European stage at Euro 2024 in Germany last summer, playing an integral part as Spain secured their fourth continental crown.

The goal involvements have dried up somewhat for the youngster since that success in Berlin, though, with the winger netting just once across 17 La Liga matches this term.

Chelsea have reportedly taken the decision to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell with Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old has spent the first half of the campaign at Selhurst Park after it soon became apparent that he was not a part of Enzo Maresca's plans at Stamford Bridge.

Although a buy option was not included in a deal that was finalised during the closing minutes of the summer transfer window, it was felt that Chalobah may have played his final game for Chelsea.

However, at a time when Chalobah has been starring in a back three with the Eagles, Maresca's defensive options have been reduced courtesy of injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

Real Madrid have reportedly given up in their efforts to sign Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold this month.

The Reds were seemingly preparing for the exit of the right-back recently, making 'direct contact' with Bayern Munich over the availability of Joshua Kimmich.

Alexander-Arnold remains a key part of Arne Slot's plans at Anfield despite intense transfer speculation, with the Englishman starting the 1-1 draw with title rivals Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

While the Reds sit top of the standings and appear set for a second-ever Premier league title, the 26-year-old has not been at his creative best based on the numbers.

The 19-year-old looks set to depart The Den before the February 3 deadline after being left out of the Lions' squad for their FA Cup victory on Monday night.

Millwall boss Alex Neil confirmed to the media that Esse's omission from the matchday party was due to the level of interest in his services during the current window.

The attacker made his debut for the Lions at the age of 17 in 2022 and has since featured in 66 competitive matches for the club, scoring seven goals.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has admitted that he would be surprised if Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo made the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital became Chelsea's new owners in May 2022, the Blues have been constantly active in the transfer market, targeting some of the world's top prospects and players with potential.

Last week, a report emerged that England international Mainoo could be the next starlet on Chelsea's radar, despite being regarded as a key player at Old Trafford.

With United in a position where they are unable to sign new players due to their position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations, it has thrown up the possibility of a surprise sale in the short term.

Araujo's existing deal with Barcelona is due to expire in June 2026, and there has recently been widespread speculation surrounding his future, with Juventus said to be desperate to sign him during the January transfer window.

Arsenal are also believed to have been keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding the Uruguay international.

Juventus are said to have failed with an opening offer for the centre-back over the weekend, but the Old Lady were expected to return with a fresh bid, with the Turin giants determined to secure his signature.

The West Midlands outfit have already secured their first deal of the January transfer window, completing the signing of Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen on Tuesday night.

However, with Unai Emery bidding to keep Villa in contention for the Premier League top five, as well as go deep in the Champions League, further additions feel inevitable.

A metatarsal injury to star centre-back Pau Torres has forced Emery's hand in defence, leading to a number of potential alternatives being suggested.

Manchester United reportedly have no plans to let Toby Collyer leave the club on loan this month, with the midfielder in Ruben Amorim's plans at Old Trafford in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

The 21-year-old has missed a lot of football this season through injury, but he has been on the bench for the team's last four Premier League matches against Bournemouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Liverpool.

Collyer was introduced off the bench against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday, and he made a huge impression, with his energy and work-rate contributing heavily to 10-man Man United taking the Gunners to penalties, which they ultimately won.

There have been suggestions that the Englishman could leave Old Trafford on loan in January, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly missed out on a January deal for Randal Kolo Muani, with Juventus said to have won the race to sign the Paris Saint-Germain attacker this month.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the France international's future in recent weeks, with PSG making it clear that he is available in the winter market, although a permanent exit was always seen as unlikely due to the numbers involved.

Man United and Spurs have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old, who has scored 11 goals and registered seven assists in 54 appearances for PSG since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have won the race for the striker, who is set to make the move to the Old Lady on loan for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

'Type of signing we'll see Liverpool make': Do Kvara links hint at Slot's plan?

Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on January 14, 2025
    © Imago

Liverpool appear to have lost the race to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but the links to the winger have at least showcased that the club will continue to prioritise top targets, Reds expert David Lynch has argued.

Reports emerged this week that Kvaratskhelia is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain in a blow to Arne Slot, who was said to be keen on reinforcing his attack.

Federico Chiesa is Arne Slot's only first-team addition in 2024-25 as it stands, and some fans are worried that the squad may not be able to cope with the intensity of competing on multiple fronts as the season progresses.

However, Lynch emphasised that it would not be surprising to see Liverpool increasingly target players such as Kvaratskhelia despite their hefty price tags, telling Sports Mole: "Speaking to people around Liverpool, the suggestion was that they [wanted] to be in the mix because he's a player they've liked for a long time, but it was said that a lot would have to happen [for him to sign].
