Dick Advocaat backs Kevin Strootman for Manchester United

Former PSV Eindhoven boss Dick Advocaat backs Kevin Strootman to join Manchester United, despite the Dutchman signing for Roma in the summer.

Former PSV Eindhoven boss Dick Advocaat believes that Kevin Strootman could soon join Manchester United, despite the Dutchman only signing for Roma in the summer.

The 23-year-old was linked with the Premier League champions before eventually joining Roma, but Advocaat has backed the Dutchman to join a club at "the absolute top".

"Strootman is a pure professional," Advocaat told Algemeen Dagblad. "It frankly surprised me that he did not get to the absolute top last summer and was on the side a little.

"I do not think he will stay at Roma that long. If Kevin is at this level, he will be plucked away. And then it will be a team of the calibre of Manchester United."

However, Roma are unlikely to entertain any offer for a player who has not even completed half a season for them.
