Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett has revealed that his loan move to Celtic has the backing of Louis van Gaal.
The young full-back completed a temporary move to the Scottish club over the weekend, and Blackett has since revealed that United's first-team coach insisted that the switch would be good for his development.
"There are a lot of good players in the 21s but you want to test yourself against older players and get that experience," the 21-year-old told reporters, according to insidefutbol.com.
"United is a worldwide club and it's always difficult for young players but it makes the challenge bigger.
"I spoke to [Van Gaal] yesterday and he said it would be a good experience for me, getting the games I need."
Blackett was a prominent fixture under Van Gaal during the early part of the Dutchman's first season at the club.
