Chelsea join race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches?

Chelsea reportedly decide to join the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches, who could be allowed to leave on loan ahead of the new campaign.

Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea.

In recent weeks, the Portuguese youngster has been linked with both Manchester United and AC Milan, and Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is open to agreeing a loan deal for the 19-year-old.

However, according to The Telegraph, they face competition from the Premier League champions, who appear willing to bring Sanches to Stamford Bridge for the next campaign.

Last summer, Bayern paid Benfica a fee of €35m (£31.3m) for the hot prospect, but he only made six starts in the Bundesliga as he played second fiddle to the German club's more established stars.

Sanches has featured heavily during pre-season but it has been claimed that with regular first-team opportunities still likely to be limited, Ancelotti is prepared to allow him to join another club on a temporary basis.

Chelsea are currently keen to sign another central midfielder, with Nathaniel Chalobah having departed for Watford and Nemanja Matic expected to leave for another team before the end of August.
