Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly set for 'crunch talks' with the club's hierarchy to discuss the situation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly set for crunch talks with the club's hierarchy over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner spoke out on his current situation at the club in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticised the club, his manager and former boss Ralf Rangnick.

Ten Hag and the squad were informed of the interview following their late 2-1 win over Fulham and the club opted not to comment on the situation at the time to keep the spotlight on the side's victory, rather than Ronaldo.

Ten Hag is set to hold crunch talks with Manchester United's hierarchy and is set to speak with United chief Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough today, with co-owner Joel Glazer on call, to decide what to do with the Portuguese international.

According to The Telegraph, a well-placed source believes some of the United squad are now ready to see Ronaldo leave, as they feel he has become a destabilising presence, especially since the Red Devils have shown an improvement as a team.

Another source added that the dressing room is making a concerted effort to not allow "Ronaldo's tantrums to distract them", and there will "not be a tear shed" by those wanting Ronaldo out when he does depart Old Trafford.

The club did release a small statement which read: "The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established. Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."

Ronaldo now turns his attention to the World Cup as he looks to help guide Portugal to glory in Qatar as they face Ghana in their opening game of the tournament on November 24.
