Brentford boss Thomas Frank plays down suggestions that Ivan Toney wants to leave the club amid reports of interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has played down suggestions that Ivan Toney is angling for a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old has not been involved for the Bees this season due to the eight-month suspension that he was handed for breaching Football Association betting rules.

However, the ban will end in January, and there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with the England international, while it is thought that Manchester United have identified him as a January target.

However, Frank has said that the forward is "happy at the club", with the Brentford head coach hopeful that Toney stays with the Bees "forever".

"He [Toney] is happy at the club," Frank told reporters on Friday. "I want him to stay. Ivan is happy to stay. He's happy at the club. What happens in the future is impossible to guess about.

"Ivan's skill set in terms of finishing, composure in those moments, link-up play, presence, character.

"He is a very good package. It's not for me to put a price tag on him, it is down to the club. I'm happy with him and I hope he plays here forever."

A recent report claimed that Brentford would not listen to offers of under £100m for Toney during the January transfer window, with the club in a strong position to resist interest at the start of 2024.

Toney only has a contract with the Bees until June 2025, though, meaning that he could leave next summer if it becomes clear that he will not be signing a new deal.

The forward made the move to Brentford from Peterborough United in September 2020, and he has represented his current side on 124 occasions, scoring 68 goals and registering 21 assists.

Toney has proved himself in the Premier League, meanwhile, netting 32 times and registering nine assists in 66 appearances for the Bees in the competition.

Last season, the Englishman netted 21 times in all competitions at club level, including 20 in the Premier League during an impressive campaign.

Toney, who started his professional career at Northampton Town before moving to Newcastle United, will be officially available for selection once again on January 17.
