England manager Roy Hodgson believes that Wayne Rooney's new contract at Manchester United will benefit the national side.
Rooney signed the deal on Friday to become the highest paid player in Premier League history, and Hodgson thinks that the agreement will be beneficial to the Three Lions.
"I think [Rooney's contract] is very good for us," he told Sky Sports News.
"I think even if his future hadn't been sorted he'd have focused on England [for the World Cup], but it is nice he has committed to Manchester United and at England, we're all very happy for him and Manchester United too."
Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish believes that the new deal could potentially hinder signing players in the summer.
