Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are in discussions over a six-month loan move for Jadon Sancho, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly opened up discussions with Borussia Dortmund regarding a loan move for Jadon Sancho.

The exiled winger moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021, after three very productive years with Dortmund, where Sancho was given his big break.

At Signal Iduna Park, Sancho scored 50 goals and set up a further 57 in the yellow and black of Dortmund, earning him a big money move to Man United.

While the 23-year-old featured regularly in his first two seasons at Old Trafford, he has since been banished from the squad after a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

The situation resembles a similar one to that involving Cristiano Ronaldo 12 months ago, which resulted in his exit to the Saudi Pro League.

With Sancho not having played since a win over Nottingham Forest in August, the January transfer window offers an opportunity for the two parties to go their separate ways.

German reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that talks have now opened between Man United and Dortmund regarding a potential return for the English winger.

He claims that it is all dependent on whether Man United would be open to a loan deal, with Dortmund unlikely to be able to afford Sancho in mid-season.

The deal is believed to be a straight six-month loan, and Sancho is eager to return to his former club given his current situation at Old Trafford.

Sancho was a regular England international before his move to Man United, and featured at Euro 2020 where the Three Lions reached the final on home soil.

However, his drop in performances and recent suspension from United means that any hopes of him making the next European Championship squad appear to be gone.

Nevertheless, Sancho could still revive his career away from Man United, given that he seemingly has no future under the current manager, and that he produced his best performances while in Dortmund.

The Red Devils will also be keen to get some of Sancho's large wages off the bill, as they will be unable to spend this January unless they can offload some players.

Sancho, along with Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Mason Greenwood are among the players on huge salaries which could be moved on this month, or in the summer on permanent deals.
