Manchester United are lining up a January swoop for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a January swoop for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Pellegrini, 22, scored three times in 37 appearances for the Italian club during the 2017-18 campaign.

The midfielder only returned to Roma last summer following a spell at Sassuolo, but it is understood that he has a £26m release clause inserted into his current deal.

United were said to be interested in the Italian during this summer's transfer window, but a move failed to materialise.

However, according to The Sun, the Red Devils could launch a bid for the box-to-box midfielder when the January transfer window opens for business.

Arsenal were also credited with an interest in Pellegrini earlier this summer.
