Manchester United and Real Madrid are reportedly still £20m apart in their valuation of Raphael Varane, as talks over the France international continue.
The Red Devils are said to be increasingly confident of agreeing a deal for the centre-back, who was in action for his country at this summer's European Championship.
However, according to The Mirror, Real Madrid want £60m for the World Cup winner, while Man United are only currently prepared to pay £40m for his services.
Varane has made 360 appearances for Los Blancos since joining the club from Lens in 2011, winning three La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns during his time at the Bernabeu.
The 28-year-old's contract with Carlo Ancelotti's side is due to expire next June, though, and it is understood that he is keen to seek pastures new ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have emerged as the favourites for his signature.
The 20-time English champions are also closing in on a deal for Jadon Sancho, who has allegedly now undergone a medical ahead of a switch from Borussia Dortmund.
