Manchester United reach a verbal agreement with Juventus for the transfer of striker Mario Mandzukic, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly come to a verbal agreement with Juventus for the transfer of striker Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian was repeatedly linked with the Red Devils in the summer but a deal could not be agreed, with the former Bayern Munich frontman subsequently turning down a move to Qatari side Al-Rayyan that would have seen him pick up £7m per year.

Mandzukic, who has scored 44 goals in 162 games since joining Juve in 2015, has not featured for Maurizio Sarri's side this season and was omitted from the club's 25-man Champions League squad.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, United and the Old Lady have come to an agreement for the striker that will see him join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team in January.

United are known to be prioritising the addition of a new forward in January after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer.
