Manchester United may reportedly have to withdraw their interest in Bruno Fernandes if they manage to secure the signing of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.
Reports over the weekend have suggested that United are closing in on a deal for centre-back Maguire, who could cost in the region of £80m.
However, reports in Portugal say that the addition of the Englishman may have ramifications for United's pursuit of Fernandes in the coming weeks.
The Premier League giants are allegedly keen to boost their midfield with the Portugal international, who contributed 20 goals and 13 assists in the league last season.
Nevertheless, it is claimed that the playmaker will only arrive at Old Trafford if Sporting are prepared to reach a compromise over a fee, with their current valuation said to be at £60m.
That could potentially force United's hand regarding Paul Pogba, given that the France international remains a top target for Real Madrid.
