Jose Mourinho: 'David de Gea definitely staying at Manchester United'

David de Gea will not be sold to Real Madrid as he is no longer interested in joining the European champions, according to Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has offered his assurances that goalkeeper David de Gea will "100%" not be joining Real Madrid this summer.

The 26-year-old is a long-term target for Los Blancos, only seeing a move to the club break down on deadline day two years ago due to faulty paperwork.

De Gea has been linked with a return to the Spanish capital ever since, but Mourinho is adamant that a sale will not go through this summer as the ex-Atletico Madrid stopper is no longer interested in making the switch.

"I can guarantee that he's not going this season, that I can, and my feeling is it will be very difficult for him to go. Because he's a very honest boy, very straight," he told reporters.

"He was contacted for a long time [by Real]. The club was close, then we open because I always have this feeling of when a player has a desire to go I don't like to stop players to go because in the end you don't get what you expect from them if they want to move and they don't.

"I don't think the feeling from him [towards Real] is very good. I see him very happy and focused and working better than ever so for me 100% he stays with us."

De Gea has made 269 appearances for the Red Devils in his six years at Old Trafford, winning seven major honours during that time.
