Report: Manchester United want Edinson Cavani

A report claims that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to build his team around Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani next season.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani this summer.

United currently have Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and James Wilson all on their books in forward positions, but the former two have struggled for form this season.

While Van Persie is expected to remain at Old Trafford this summer, the same cannot be said for Falcao, who has struggled to reproduce his top form since arriving on loan from Monaco last summer.

According to The Express, United boss Van Gaal wants to build his team around Cavani next season and is confident of prising the Uruguay international to England.

Cavani, 28, has netted 40 goals in 71 games for PSG since arriving from Napoli in 2013, but it is thought that the attacker is becoming increasingly frustrated with Laurent Blanc's decision to play him in a wide area.
