Report: Manchester United want Diego Godin in January

A report claims that Manchester United want to sign Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin in January.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a January move for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

The Uruguay international has developed into one of the best centre-backs in European football over the last couple of seasons.

His performances last term helped Atletico win their first La Liga title since 1996 and reach the final of the Champions League.

It is understood that Godin is a target for a number of clubs, but according to The Telegraph, United will make their interest official at the start of 2015.

Godin, who has a contract with Atletico until 2018, reportedly has a £28.5m buy-out clause.
