Tottenham Hotspur want new Luka Modric deal

Tottenham Hotspur want to tie Luka Modric down to a £100,000-a-week deal to fend off interest from Chelsea and both Manchester clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to double Luka Modric's wages in an attempt to fend off interest from their Premier League rivals.

The Croatian was a £40m transfer target for Chelsea last summer and confessed his desire to join the Blues, but was denied his move by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Interest in the 26-year-old is set to be high again at the end of the season, with both Manchester City and Manchester United poised to join Chelsea in the quest for his signature.

However, Spurs are once again planning a stubborn stance and will attempt to persuade the midfielder with a £100,000-a-week contract.

Boss Harry Redknapp revealed: "I don't know where we are at with Luka. I'm sure the club is looking to tie him up."

Modric has made 37 appearances for the Lilywhites this season, scoring four goals.
