Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha says that he is "very happy" at Wolverhampton Wanderers amid suggestions of interest from Manchester United.

Matheus Cunha has said that he is "very happy" at Wolverhampton Wanderers amid suggestions of interest from Manchester United during this summer's transfer window.

The forward joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in January 2023 before making a permanent switch to Molineux later in the year.

Cunha has scored 16 goals and registered nine assists in 56 appearances for his current side in all competitions, including 14 goals and seven assists in 49 Premier League outings.

An impressive 2023-24 campaign saw the 25-year-old manage 14 goals and eight assists in 36 appearances, and there has recently been speculation surrounding his future.

Man United will move for a new forward this summer, and it has been claimed that Cunha has emerged as a target for the 20-time English champions.

Cunha "very happy" at Wolves amid Man United talk

However, the Brazilian has played down suggestions that he could leave Molineux this summer.

"My focus is on resting and making the most of my time with my family. I'm very happy at Wolves. The focus now is on having better seasons and helping the club. God willing, I'll continue on this path," he told Globo Esporte.

Man United were linked with Cunha during his time at Atletico, and the Red Devils are thought to have a long-term interest in the versatile attacker.

The South American featured in both Premier League games against Erik ten Hag's side last season but could not prevent his side from losing home and away to the English giants.

Wolves are in a strong position when it comes to the forward's future, as he has another three years left to run on his contract at Molineux.

Would Cunha be a good signing for Man United?

Despite being brought in as a centre-forward, Cunha finished last season in a deeper position, and he proved to be a serious threat arriving from deep areas.

Cunha's running power, pace and strength made him a huge threat for Wolves, and he managed three goals and one assist in his last six Premier League appearances of the campaign.

Man United are currently lacking that power in the position between the midfield and attack, and it is not difficult to understand why the club are allegedly looking at the Wolves ace.

There have been suggestions that a deal could be done for around £60m, but the Red Devils would still need to sign a centre-forward this summer, in addition to a centre-back and a central midfielder, so it remains to be seen whether the funds are there for Cunha.

Wolves will also be determined to keep hold of one of their best players, with 19 goal contributions in 32 league matches during the 2023-24 campaign demonstrating his quality.
