Adam Murray apologises for Mansfield Town display

Mansfield Town player-manager Adam Murray apologises for his side's display in the 2-1 defeat to Morecambe on Tuesday night.

Mansfield Town player-manager Adam Murray has slammed his side after they suffered a 2-1 loss at Morecambe on Tuesday evening.

The defeat for Mansfield was their fifth in eight games, and Murray, who was placed in charge in December, has apologised to the club's supporters after they slumped further towards the relegation zone.

The 33-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I want to apologise and I think the players should say 'sorry' as well for a shocking start to the game which showed why we are where we are in the league.

"We were indecisive, our decision making was poor, we were naive and we just didn't do our jobs. It is something that has hurt us all season and we need to sort out.

"We have been working hard for weeks now on defending set pieces and letting people know their roles but once again, they didn't carry out the instructions and were made to pay."

The Stags currently sit in 21st position in the league table, just two points above 23rd-placed York City.
