Middlesbrough have revealed that Jordan Rhodes will not be joining the club before tomorrow's transfer deadline.
The Teesiders agreed a fee - thought to be worth around £9m - with fellow Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers on Friday for the Scotland international.
However, having put the 25-year-old through a medical, reports this afternoon claimed that Boro had ended their pursuit on financial grounds.
Boro have now confirmed the speculation with a statement on the club's official website that read: "The club can confirm that we have held talks with Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes over the weekend but have failed to agree terms."
The two sides are due to meet at the Riverside Stadium next weekend.
