Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Adam Forshaw from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
It was reported earlier today that the 23-year-old had travelled to Boro's Teeside training base for a medical and discussions over personal terms.
Those talks have now concluded, with the midfielder having signed on at the Riverside Stadium until the summer of 2018.
"He's just the type of player I want here. He fits the profile of the players we want at the club," manager Aitor Karanka told the club's official website.
"He's a good lad and he's a good player. It's important to bring in players who know the league and Adam fits that."
Forshaw added: "I was up for the challenge of coming to Middlesbrough. I know how big the club is. There's a good manager and a good set of players.
"Watching them from afar their style of play is good, it's something I wanted to be a part of and I didn't need convincing."
Forshaw, who started his career with Everton, only joined Wigan from Brentford last September.
