Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has praised his team following their victory against Brentford.
The Magpies continued their undefeated run of seven games in the Premier League, with this being their fourth victory during that period of time, as they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Joelinton and Joe Willock.
The three points helped the club move up to 14th place in the division, and they have extended a four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.
"We are very happy. We knew today was going to be a tough game. I do not think it was our finest performance, but I thought we showed real heart and character," Howe told the press.
"The red card changed the game, definitely. We had a lot more of the ball and in the first half, we were a real threat, chasing goals."
Newcastle will be back in action on Saturday when they face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
