Steve McClaren has admitted that he has "concerns" ahead of his first season as Newcastle United manager.
McClaren's side fell to a 2-1 pre-season defeat against League Two outfit York City, and the former England manager concedes that he is running out of time to implement his playing style on the squad.
The 54-year-old told The Shields Gazzette: "I'm like every manager. You always have concerns – you never quite know where you are at, especially when you have just come in and you try to establish something and you are trying to play catch-up and get to know everybody.
"That's what I am doing. I'm learning a lot. It has been short, but we have 10 or 11 days to go. They will be interesting days."
Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign against Southampton on August 9.
